Initially, a small bathroom became her darkroom where she began making black and white prints. Four years later, her darkroom expanded, and she began printing in color. Recently, she began experimenting with the Polaroid dye (image) transfers as well as the Polaroid manipulations. Judy's work has been exhibited at the Galleria in Pontiac, the Lawrence St. Gallery in Pontiac, the Scarab Club in Detroit, the University of Michigan's Matthaei Botanical Garden Exhibit, Oakland Community College and in August 1998, she had a one-woman show of her monochrome prints at Borders Books in Novi. She won two International Medals for "Best Authenticated Wildlife Nature Prints" plus many trophies, plaques and ribbons for her photography. Judy Yaker is a member of the Pontiac Photographic Society where she serves as Print and 2-1/4 Color Slide Director. She is the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council's 2-1/4 Color Slide Director and until recently, the editor of the Council's newsletter, the "Council News." Judy utilizes a Canon EOS-3, but also has 2 EOS-1Ns. In medium format, Judy favors her two Pentax 6x7s. For large format, she uses her Toyo VX125 4x5. She resides in Bloomfield Hills with her husband, Sam, and their cat, Boris.
